No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.
Enacted in 1972, Title IX promised women equal opportunities in the classroom and on the playing field. Five decades later, the Independent Council on Women’s Sports (ICONS) is working hard to protect the female category in sport, and Blaine County resident Anne Simpson is on the front lines of this fight.
The Blaine County Republican Central Committee and Blaine County Republican Women are partnering to host a forum for our community to hear Anne speak about the important work that ICONS is doing across the country. This discussion is particularly timely following President Donald Trump’s executive order defending women from gender ideology extremism. Anne’s presentation will include an update on the lawsuit brought by female collegiate volleyball players against the Mountain West Conference and San Jose State University. Plaintiffs in the case include players from the Boise State University women’s volleyball team.
This presentation will take place following a short regular meeting of the Blaine County Republican Central Committee on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. The meeting will start at 7:00 pm, and Anne’s presentation will begin at 7:30 pm. The location of this meeting is the Minnie Moore Room at the Community Campus, 1050 Fox Acres Road in Hailey.
There is no cost to attend. We look forward to having you join us for this important conversation.
