Blaine County Republicans Celebrate Conservative Victories in 2026 Election
Another election has come and gone, and while results across the nation were mixed, Idaho was a bright spot for Republicans. Our state remains solidly red, with voters re-electing every Republican statewide constitutional officer and member of Congress. Idaho voters once again demonstrated their commitment to the conservative principles that have shaped our state.
Here in Blaine County, we have reasons to celebrate and reasons to be disappointed. But above all, we celebrate the democratic process and the privilege of living in a country where we can openly debate important issues, choose our leaders, and make our voices heard at the ballot box. With 76% voter turnout in Blaine County, likely among the highest in Idaho, our community has once again demonstrated just how engaged we are in that process.
One of the most significant statewide results was the defeat of Proposition 1. We strongly opposed this measure because it would have established a broad right to abortion that goes far beyond Roe v. Wade, redefined the definition of fetal viability, weakened parents’ fundamental right to be involved in important decisions affecting their children, and undermined Idaho’s longstanding commitment to protecting innocent human life. We are pleased that voters rejected the proposal.
We also supported the passage of HJR 6, which establishes English as the official language of Idaho in our state Constitution.
Closer to home, we welcome the defeat of Ketchum’s proposed local option tax (LOT), which we strongly opposed. We hope city leaders will recognize this result as a message from voters to exercise greater fiscal responsibility and be more careful stewards of taxpayer dollars.
We are understandably disappointed in the outcomes of local races, but we are enormously proud of Bryan Hyde, Lyle Johnstone, Mike Pohanka, Logan Davis, and Darcy Creech for running excellent campaigns. They worked tirelessly, raised important issues, and gave voters meaningful choices. Competitive elections and robust debate make our communities stronger, regardless of the outcome.
Finally, we extend our sincere thanks to the many volunteers, donors, and supporters who gave their time, energy, and resources over the past several months. Your dedication made it possible to run a serious, organized effort across our county and district.
Elections come and go, but our commitment to Blaine County and the people who call it home remains. We look forward to continuing the conversation, staying engaged, and working toward a stronger future for our community.
