We are so back!
What a momentous time in our nation’s history. Now that the 2024 election is in the rear-view mirror, we find ourselves at the dawn of a new Golden Age, ready to Make America Great Again!
In Blaine County, our fight as patriots is unique within Idaho. We must work twice as hard as Republicans in other counties to succeed, strengthening our resolve. I am proud of what we accomplished in this election, and we have much to celebrate—and build on—as we move forward.
While President-elect Donald Trump did not win in Blaine County, he earned a bigger percentage of our county’s vote compared to 2016 and 2020. This is a testament to our voter outreach program over the last couple of months. Our neighborhood events, door knocking, phone banking, and text messages reached several thousand Republican and Unaffiliated voters. For many voters, this was the first time they had ever heard from the Blaine County Republican Party, and the overwhelming feedback was that conservative voters are happy to see us engaged in the community. The result of our outreach was higher than usual Republican participation in early voting, and support for President Trump increased.
We were elated to see Proposition 1 strongly defeated statewide with 69.6% of Idahoans rejecting the confusing, unfair, and costly proposal. Prop 1 was also defeated within our Legislative District with 56.38% of voters across Blaine, Lincoln, and Jerome Counties saying “no.” In Blaine County specifically, we exceeded our “no” vote goal, and there were more “no” votes than registered Republicans in the county. We worked tirelessly to educate voters about Prop 1, and we are pleased there was broad opposition in the Wood River Valley.
The Blaine County Republican Party also supported the Constitutional Amendment to prohibit non-citizen voting in Idaho elections. We are happy to report that it not only passed statewide, but it also passed in Blaine County! Over half of voters in our county voted “yes” for this common-sense law.
On Election Day, we had 15 poll watchers at voting locations throughout Blaine County to help ensure election integrity. As you may have heard, our county did not fully report election results until 5:00 pm the day after the election, long after most of the state was done reporting including the largest counties in Idaho. We will be putting pressure on the the Blaine County Elections Office to explain and correct this issue before the next election in 2025.
We congratulate President-elect Donald Trump and Congressman Mike Simpson on their victories, and we look forward to collaborating with two Republican State Representatives from Legislative District 26 – Mike Pohanka and Jack Nelsen – as we work together to advance the Republican Party platform and conservative principles during the 2025 Idaho legislative session.
THANK YOU to all the incredible volunteers who helped us carry out our mission and begin taking steps to Turn Blaine Red.
The Blaine County Republican Party is alive and thriving, and we are looking forward to a brighter future.
With gratitude and optimism,
Heather Lauer
Chair, Blaine County Republican Central Committee
P.S. Our volunteer work did not end on Election Day! We are working quickly to take down campaign signs around the county. If you see a sign in a public location, please help us out by taking it down and disposing of it.
